inland empire (dazed and confused) ☆☆

Lynch has built an empire around the idea of confusion. He has a lot to say about the underbelly of suburbia (It is not just the city that is corrupt). His female characters drag around so much pain and confusion. Inland empire offers amazing sets, odd dialog, choreographed dancing, scary bunnies, mystery, and chaos. He shot the entire movie with digital video and it works. It is 3 hours +... so be prepared! It might take 10 viewings to make sense of this movie. In the end it might be too long and slightly gratuitous. The cast includes Laura Dern, Justin Theroux, Harry Dean Stanton, Grace Zabriskie, as well as Jeremy Irons, Diane Ladd, and special appearances by Nastassja Kinski, William H. Macy, Laura Harring, Jordan Ladd and Ben Harper, as well as the voices of Naomi Watts, Laura Harring and Scott Coffey.
